Tramline - Somewhere Down The Line UK Pink Island ORIG.

During the prime-time of brittish blues boom in 1968, all labels had to have a blues band under their wings. Chris Blackwell made no exception by releasing and producing Tramline's debut LP on his Island label, a.k.a Pink Island label. The most famous figure is 17-18 years old Mick Moody holding the guitar (Juicy Lucy, Snafu, Whitesnake) and does it very well indeed. The album is surprisingly strong, the drum saturated Mazurka being a bit out of place. The other members have remained a mystery to me ; John McCoy sings and plays harmonica, Terry Sidgwick plays bass and Terry Popple plays the drums. The only thing I know about the rest is that Terry Popple joined later with a very collectable Australian progressive rock band (sorry, my memory does not serve me tonight!). In my opinion, Tramline's Somewhere Down The Line has always been one of the most satisying Brit Blues records due to it's own arrangements of standard blues tunes, but do not expect to compete with Peter Green's Mac and John Mayall's Bluesbreakers!

ISLAND ILPS 9088: Original 1st UK pressing, omits the MADE IN ENGLAND scripts on the label that the 2nd pressing has. Pink Island is like we all known, a enjoyed label both for it's early ska/reggeae output and the later progressive/psych releases.

CONDITIONS: (See grading descriptions and pictures below) COVER: EX / clean sleeve with minimal lamination creasing only.
DISC: EX / a completely silent light hairline and some rubbing on surface, disc has some background noise (high but not loud hiss) on the beginning of both side. I don't know why, it seems like it's been there since the birth, as it can be heard at the same time as the music starts. On the A-side it's barely notable and on the B-side it's more noteable, and fades in the background when the music sets in. This is something I've never heard on any records before. Otherwise, the disc plays like ace, the music is loud,crystal clear and without any surface noise or distorsion. The hiss takes place for about 30 seconds and has never disturbed me personally.

Grading Description:
I grade records strictly, but fairly. Please use the pictures as a reference.
M- : A nearly perfect record/sleeve and the highest grade I use.
EX : Almost perfect as new, with some minor flaws
VG+: Record/Sleeve show some sign of having been played/handled, but still in great condition.
VG : Record/Sleeve has seen better days, however still in representable condition, all be with some surface noise and wear on cover. Items in lesser than VG condition will not be offered for sale, nor will I accept them in my personal collection.
