Description

This wonderful hand made and painted storage box is in the shape of a treasure chest. This Treasure Chest contains 54 Antique Records dating from 1903 to 1937.  These records are truely a treasure. The music consisting from fast beat Boogie Woogie, Fox Trot, Blackberry Boogie down to Tap Dance, Waltz, Orchestra, Vocals etc.  Record Labels such as RCA Victor Radio Corporation, Victor Talking Machine (Orthophonic Recording), Columbia Graphophone Company, Mercury Record Corp,Victrola etc.  Songs and Artists include Boogie Woogie Maxixe by The Ames Brothers and Gil Rodin, "Two Lost Souls" from the Musical Production "Damn Yankees" by Jay P. Morgan, Perry Como, Richard Adler and Jerry Ross, "Little Brown Jug" Glen Miller and his Orchestra. "Say Hey" by Ray Anthony and his Orchestra, Les Paul and Mary Ford. These are just the first four records I pulled from the front of the Treasure Chest, there are 50 more records included. I have listened to all of them, the vocals and music are clear and strong for that time period. I think I counted two or three of the very early records that have a scratchy background sound, could have been the best they could record at that time, but I'm not sure. There are no skips on the records and look in good condition for their age.

The Treasure Chest is made of wood covered in leather and stained black. There are attached decorative Brass strips around the edges (two are missing, top side and right front). The lid is held by two copper hinges. A brass plate (strip) is attached to the inside front. It is engraved with numbers that line up with the felt dividers that hold the records.  There are also two old hand written record lists under the lid (not the same records). The black stain has worn off the leather in several places. There are two indents and a small tare to the leather.  The hand painted eagles still have their bright colors.  The chest looks better in person than my pictures show. My camera flash makes it look gray but it is black.
