Description
This is my original copy bought when it came out and stored away for decades.
It is not a perfect copy but most of it plays clearly and enjoyably. I have tried to list all faults, as it is a scarce record in any condition.
The sleeve is about VG, but has shelf wear to all edges, and ring wear with shallow creases when held against the light. I have photographed it with and without flash to give as much information as possible.
The inner is only Good to Very Good as it has numerous slight creases, and an edge split where the record has rubbed it, but retains its original detail, again as per photos.
The vinyl has a good sheen but the faults noted when playing suggest it really needs a clean.
Matrices are A1 and B1. The dead wax has my name and childhood address neatly added......
Side 1 has a 'scuff' noise and pops at the beginning, maybe for the first 20 seconds or so. There are some loudish pops noticeable in track 3 and 4. Track 2, 'Murdoch', which is one of the stand-out songs, played without noise. When held against the light there is a faint scuff about 6mm long at the end of track 4, but there was no regular ticking and it played through OK. Again against the light there are a few hairline marks which don't affect play.
Side 2 has noticeable crackle at the start of track 1, there are surface marks visible against the light, and I have tried to capture one in one of the photos, but no regular noise from them. There are pops enough on this side to suggest a clean would improve the record, but all tracks sounded good and enjoyable on my Linn, apart from the last track which sticks towards the end. This is caused by a faint score which is hard to see, it is not across the grooves, it is around the groove and must have been caused by pressure on the stylus. This is the most prominent fault by far, I don't feel that track is playable.
Starting at a low price, and I hope someone will want to give this a good home.
