This is the original 1950 three volume, 12 -record 78 rpm set of Arthur S. Alberts' famous 1949 field recordings of obscure West African and Sudanese tribal music. This is issue no. 183 of 2000 sets pressed. Alberts' historic original reel -to-reel tape recordings now rest in the Library of Congress. This set comes in a case housing the three volumes, extensive liner notes and nine 7x9 black and white photographs. Records grade E, some sleeve scuffs and light scratches. Binder I is completely split along spine and held together with tape. Binders II and III have slight splits along spine. The box case is split along bottom and held together with tape. A single copy of this rare set is currently offered on Amazon for $2500.00. I am offering it here for considerably less.
