Description
It's always a problem grading these lovely old SKA records.
They went to lots of parties.
That means that they're a bit battered and that's why many have names written on the label.
HOWEVER... they're usually cut VERY LOUD and though they look a bit rough, they sound OK (especially if you press the "Mono" button).
This means that a 60's Ska goodie can be perfectly acceptable, even if it looks R.A.A.B.B. (Rough As A Bear's Bottom)..
Please bear that in mind when reading my descriptions.
Here we have The Cables on a lovely 1970 Trojan single, number TR7792 performing “Salt Of The Earth” with “Ring A Bell” on the other side. Both toons were produced by H. Johnson.
“Salt Of The Earth” is a familiar tune to ‘Stones collectors, and here it has an added “Tracks Of My Tears” by The Miracles riff appearing in odd corners, making everything more interesting.
The other side “Ring A Bell” is another corker.
The record is not perfect (see photographs). There are some medium light scratches and sleeve marks which don’t cause auditory discontent, when the MONO button is pressed. It’s so LOUD that it’ll DJ beautifully. Trust me. I’m from Yorkshire. Geoff the workshop feral cat thinks it’s a GREAT record. Using the Record Collector Magazine standard grading, I reckon it looks something like a good solid VG+ but it plays MUCH BETTER.
