Songs By Johnny Chambers Include I Will Not Come Down O What A Shame Because Of Jesus A Day Of Victory My God, My Every The Beginning Of Sorrows Run On Devil I Feel Like A* Giant Journey To Eternity David You -Must Be Born Again Laborers Are Few I was born December 4, 1944 near a small Oklahoma town called "Pawnee." At that time my mother and father were very active in church work. I am the youngest of five children, but it really seems as though I was raised almost alone. The reason for this is because all three of my brothers left home at an early age to preach the Gospel. My only sister married an evangelist when she was yet a teen-ager I followed in my big brothers' footsteps as my folks consented to let me finish my High School through a correspondence course. I started preaching at the very young age of 15 years even though I stammered and stuttered quite a lot. God honored my sincere effort and opened doors in churches all through Oklahoma and Texas. I was not experienced in what I was doing, but the Lord gave me wisdom and guidance as I put all my faith and trust in Him. ►P With my father, an ordained Assemblies of God Minister, and all three of my brothers and my brother-in-law being evangelists I never did want for a place to preach. If I didn't have a church to preach in for a week or two, I could join any of my family in their revivals. When I was 17 years old I was in a revival in Kermit, Texas, at the First Assembly of God Church, when God spoke to me to go to the east coast. I didn't know one person there but I said yes to the Lord. None of my family had preached much in the area where the Lord told me to go. Therefore, I had to really pray and trust the Lord to open new doors in the Southeast for me. And, praise the Lord, before our meeting closed in Kermit, God had opened a door for me to preach in a church in Nashville, Tennessee. From there I went to North Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi and Florida. I preached in these states in churches, tents, and auditoriums. When I just turned 18 years old I recorded my first L.P. record. In about 10 months the Lord gave me my first song, en- titled "I KNOW MY REDEEMER LIVETH." Since that time I have written almost 100 Gospel songs, 40 of them are on record. God has blessed me in a wonderful way to be a young man, and I am very grateful. As my ministry developed the Lord gave me a nice gospel tent when I was 19 years old. In three revivals the people helped us pay for our tent, 500 chairs, a truck and trailer. Those three meetings were a turning point in my ministry. God began to give me a vision to reach entire cities, not just one church; I have acted on this vision and God has given me wisdom to do so. A year to remember was 1965. The Lord gave me a wife to help me in my work for Him. Diana is the only daughter of Rev. and Mrs. M. E. Furber of Atlanta, Georgia. Diana plays the big Hammond organ and sings in our revivals. She is a big help and blessing everywhere we go. Also, in 1965 the Lord told me to enlarge the place of my tent. By May of 1966 I had a'brand new Tent that seated 2,100 people. We have witnessed hundreds of people coming to Christ every month. ►P God will give a person what they believe He will give them. "Without faith it is impossible to please him." My prayer is that God will use me in a greater way in these Last days. JOHNNY CHAMBERS P 0. Box 1921 Tulsa, Oklahoma 74101
