This fine LP from Chandos (ABRD 1072, English pressing, blue/black label, DDD stereo) features cellist Yuli Turovsky and pianist Luba Edlina’s commanding accounts of Dmitri Shostakovich’s Sonata for Cello and Piano Op. 40 and Sergei Prokofiev’s Sonata for Cello and Piano Op. 119, both recorded in the warm acoustics of the Church of St. George the Martyr, Bloomsbury, London, on 11/12 November 1981.

This remarkable album was produced by Brian Couzens and engineered by Ralph Couzens.

The fine liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket were written by Solomon Volkov and are provided in English only. The engaging cover photo of Turovsky and Edlina was taken by Clive Barda, London.

CONDITION:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. Really, this is close to NM. There is minor wear at corners, but that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, or owners' markings and the album remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.

The condition of the LP is near-MINT and playback is superb – overall, a truly fine collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
