Description
This is a great rare find. In 1944, Boston Blackie made his radio debut on NBC. This series was an outgrowth of the popular Boston Blackie movies. Chester Morris and Richard Lane brought to the radio the characters of Boston Blackie and Inspector Farraday. The series was originally a summer replacement for The Amos and Andy Show. It was scheduled to run from June 23, 1944 to September 15, 1944 for a total of thirteen episodes. There is some disagreement on how many episodes actually aired. The series turned out to be very popular and on April 15, 1945, it returned to the air in its own time slot on NBC. This time the star was Richard Kollmar who played Blackie for 220 episodes. This information I got from the internet when researching these records
You are bidding on two radio shows. They are two-part shows. Show 167 and 168, Part One, are on one record and Part Two of both shows is on the second record. I believe these records are from the 1945 series because I found a publicity photograph of Richard Kollmar with the records.
I have not listened to these two records, as I don't have a player with a 16" arm, so I cannot attest to the quality of the records, but they appear to be unscratched and undamaged. The cue sheet for the above auction is included with the records. The record covers are original and also appear to be in fairly good condition.
