Description
Three 12” vinyl Tamla Motown compilation albums comprising some of the company’s greatest hit records from the late 1960s and early 1970s.
These are The Big Wheels of Motown, a 20-track compilation album comprising hits from 1964-71, and Volumes 5 and 6 from the popular Motown Chartbusters series (covering approximately late 1970 to late 1971) and each containing 16 tracks. There is only a very small amount of overlap between the Chartbusters and Big Wheels albums, such that of the total of 52 tracks only 3 are duplicated. (Catalogue numbers are, respectively, EMTV 12, STML 11181, STML 11191)
The track listing of each album can be seen from the photographs, but (to summarise) all of the 20 tracks on The Big Wheels of Motown are very well known hits, whereas on the Motown Chartbusters the major hits are interpersed with some more minor Motown singles from the time period concerned. Suffice to say, however, that any listener familiar with the singles released by the Tamla Motown label in Britain in the early 70s would be likely to know and love all these songs.
I have owned all of these albums from new and they have been played only a small number of times (prior to taping for listening in car), and thereafter have been carefully stored for some 35 years. The Big Wheels album has I think been played only about 4 times, whilst the Chartbusters albums have been played only twice. The Chartbusters albums are therefore effectively in virtually new condition.
All three of the discs are in pristine condition, with no scratches, marks or scuffs whatsoever visible. The Chartbusters albums are on coloured vinyl (see photos) whilst the Big Wheels album is black. The sleeves of the Chartbusters albums have a textured finish and are in pristine condition, whilst The Big Wheels has a glossy laminated sleeve, with very minor signs of wear, such as slight discolouration along some edges on the back (see photos).
If sent through the post, the albums will be very carefully packaged, but to minimise any risk collection would also be welcome (near Church Stretton, south Shropshire).
