Description
U2 YELLOW VINYL
11 O’Clock Tick Tock
This single by U2 was the first that was released by the group outside of their native Ireland, and it was the first under their new contract with CBS Records (they were not yet signed to Island). It was originally released in May of 1980.
Both of the song “11 O’Clock Tick Tock” and “Touch” are unique to this single. They were not re-recorded and are the band’s only work with Martin Hannett. This truly is the dawn of U2
IN 1982 when the band was starting to have some success in the UK, CBS Ireland did a four-pack reissue of their first four singles in Ireland and did them like this, on colored vinyl. That’s what you have here. Some will lead you to believe this is a unique 1980 original pressing, but it is (in fact) a 1982 re-release, which is still 34 years ago! The single was also issued in the UK on Island, but that’s another story.
This record comes from the collection of Punk Diary 1970-1982 author George Gimarc (me!) and had been carefully kept for many, many years.
