Description

This is a near mint condition, very rare, white label test pressing U-2 "A Day Without Me" 45. It was issued by Island Records U.K. in the early '80s. Test pressings were made in advance of regular pressings for quality control purposes. They were very selectively distributed to record label V.I.P.s and the artist and their management for approval. Very few were produced and most copies were destroyed. They were never made available to the general public. This single has reversed labels that were put on the wrong sides of the record at the pressing plant. The label that has " U-2 A Day Without Me" has sound tones and no music. The blank side label has the actual song "A Day Without Me". It's interesting to note that "U2" is printed on the label as "U-2". They stopped doing this very early in their career. The record comes in a standard white paper sleeve. It has had one owner, a former record company executive who has had it filed away since the early '80s.
