This is a test pressing of the FIRST CUT, and is NOT the same as the released 12". It differs only slightly - in that the matrix numbering/wording on Side Two differs from the same on the eventually released version...but all the same, Side Two was re-cut and that second cut was what was used to make the 'mothers' and master disc and press the record from.

The Side Two matrices on the released 12" are: 12IS509 B-2  79304-1 (then an 'M' with a horizontal line through it). 

The Side Two matrices on this 12" test pressing are: 12IS509 B-2  79304-1  6A2  (then an 'M' with a horizontal line through it). (I've tried to show the difference in the latter two photos, but it's pretty hard to make out...sorry about that...it needs some serious squinting, and even then it's a tough call.)

I was very involved with the pressing plant at Festival Records (where these were made) from the mid-1980's through till when the plant closed down in early 1992, and was privy to all manner of info regarding test pressings, acetates, pressing runs, and many one-offs (at one stage, in early '92, I received, direct from the pressing engineer, the only two copies of this 12" on coloured vinyl and the one and only coloured vinyl 12" of "The Fly" - I sold them on to a Sydney U2 collector, and they're stuff of legend these days - I only offer that info to illustrate that I might just know what I'm talking about here - in case you may have doubted).

It comes in a generic Australian Phonogram die-cut 12" sleeve...with the artist and title handwritten in felt pen, upside-down on the back. The labels are plain white with no writing anywhere.

CONDITION:

COVER / VINYL: ( - / M- )...it was mint when I first put it aside nearly 20 years ago, but I notice it has just a couple of the most minor of scuffs/hair-line marks (probably from movement within the inner sleeve) and a couple of fingerprints, hence the M- grading...

PACKING:
Don’t worry - we pack anything you buy VERY CAREFULLY to make sure it arrives in EXACTLY the condition it left here. More specifically, in the way we'd like to receive parcels ourselves.

RECORDS: All vinyl is taken OUT of the cover to avoid seam splits and then both cover and vinyl are sealed in a SAFE plastic bag (ie one that can have NO effect on either cover or vinyl). Then packed in well-padded cardboard for shipping. We've NEVER had a damaged item yet.

WE MAIL OUT 3 or 4 TIMES A WEEK.
