VINYL is NEAR MINT / NEAR MINT-
Full gloss Vinyl is super clean - SIDE ONE is beautiful NM with no marks, SIDE TWO is very close, NM- with a very few faintest sleeve marks only, viewed under hard bright light, that are 100% inaudible. LP plays superb throughout. Labels are bright and clean both sides with no spindle marks..

COVER is NEAR MINT-
Crisp, snapping bright and spanking clean, with no wear, rub, creases, writing or soil. The only thing keeping this cover from Full Near Mint is 2 lightly bumped (still sharp) corner-tips. Seams and spine completely intact with no wear or splits. Spine titles are sharp, clear and 100% legible. "PROMOTION ONLY..." sticker on front cover, u.r. corner.

Original PHOTOS/INFO Inner Sleeve included - in super clean condition with no creases or splits. *Disc inside additional anti-static Inner sleeve to protect both the Vinyl and the original Inner.
1st US pressing on correct ISLAND Blue split (sunset/sunrise) labels and correct original catalog number: ILPS 9680. ALLIED RECORD CO. Pressing is denoted by Allied's stylized "a" logo, stamped in the Deadwax on both sides of this LP. 

Back Cover does not have credits at (blank) upper left, that later issues have there. That info is found here on the original on the custom inner sleeve. Later issues have a plain white inner only. Any other catalog number on a USA issue (such as 90092, 422-842 297, etc.) will be a later repress. Any other color or style Island label is a repress. Don't be fooled. Many later pressings are now being listed incorrectly on eBay as First Press.
*Vinylbeat and Discogs are great places to verify this and most other first pressings and correct original labels.

Many sellers are confused - or worse, erroneously selling various later issues of this great LP as First Pressings. Many unsure buyers fall for it. Especially grievous during the Holiday season, when a well-meaning friend hopes to find a FIRST PRESSING to give a collector for a gift. BIG oops!

The 2nd LP from U2. This was still the time when U2 was a relatively unknown and underground band, and primarily only yet heard on college radio. It would be the next release, “War” that sprung U2 to the world.

“October” was recorded while the band was touring, and adding to the stress, Bono’s briefcase with song ideas and lyrics was stolen on tour before recording began. Many of these songs were written on the fly during the recording process. It is testament to the band’s creativity that the sophomore effort was this good, and The Edge’s guitar work was a highlight.

From an utterly vast and deep record collection, from my life-long best friend
who was a DJ at the Radio Station I co-founded in the 1970's - and who worked for me at my California record store in the '70s and '80s. . Sadly he has now left this mortal coil, bequeathing me his deep Vinyl Mine.
