Description
Here for auction is a rare UK copy UFO’s debut LP from 1970 on Beacon Records.
Rarer still is its top condition!
The superb condition of the vinyl is described in detail below, while the cover itself is exceptionally clean and fresh looking.
The LP is housed in a typical Decca-style laminated cover which has retained all of its gloss, and whose spine is almost as good as new (see photo). The photos reveal some minor ringwear, but this looks much worse in the photo than in reality.
One owner since 1979, when author/singer Julian Cope purchased the record in a Liverpool secondhand record shop. Thereafter, Cope kept the record safe in a thick polythene cover and has played the LP only occasionally.
This has ensured that the vinyl has remained in superb condition, very little by way of noise between each track. The condition of the individual songs themselves is as follows:
Side One’s opener ‘Unidentified Flying Object’ is clean save for some mild and occasional surface noise.
‘Boogie’ is clean.
‘C’Mon Everybody’ is clean.
‘Shake It About’ is clean.
‘Melinda’ Opens with some small pops, but is clean thereafter, until a single pop before the tailout gunfire.
Side Two opens with some mild surface noise but the opening song ‘Timothy’ is clean.
Halfway through ‘Follow You Home’, there is some discernable surface noise – very mild though.
‘Treacle People’ is clean.
‘Who Do You Love’ is clean save for some discernible surface noise at the song’s beginning and a single pop towards the tail-out.
‘Evil’ exhibits some crackle and a pop both at the beginning and at the very end of the song.
