THE BEATLES

SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND

UHQR

ULTRA HIGH QUALITY RECORDING

THIS IS THE HOLY GRAIL OF ROCK RECORDINGS.

This record has never been played on any turntable anywhere.  I know that because I originally purchased this record as soon as it was shipped to New York.  From 1981 to 1983 I spent every summer and holiday working at a high end stereo store on 83rd st and 2nd ave.  There are 3 things I acquired from that job: a very nice stereo system, which has disappeared piece by piece; a penchant for Patsie's Pizza, the owner loved Patsie's and as soon as I tasted their Pizza I loved it also; and 2 UHQR Records, Dark Side of the Moon, which I then gave to my sister as a wedding gift (she lost the record and her husband although not necessarily in that order), and this pressing of Sgt. Pepper's (which required a couple months of begging to convince my boss to sell me one).  Our store only got I believe 10 copies of the record, the owner took the first two for himself and the manager took the third, every big customer of ours was promised one.  The only reason I ended up getting one was because one of our biggest customers hated Rock and Pop music of any kind, so I got the one he turned down.

As a 14 or 15 yr old I couldn't help but open it, I was dying to look at all the stuff inside, but I never played it or even placed it on a turntable.  In fact the only time I ever took it out of the inner sleeve was to write down the pressing and stamp number which is etched into the record outside of the label.  MFSL when they make Original Master Recordings will make a set of Stamps from the Master Tapes when that set of stamps is used up they make another set.  So if you read the number outside the label of the record you will see a number like MFSL-1-100-B5 This would mean your B side of Sgt Pepper's was pressed with the 5th stamp of the original set. After that first set is done they add subsequent sets as MFSL-1-100-B1-1 this would be the first stamp of the second set.  My A side says MFSL-1-100-A3 and  my B Side says MFSL-1-100-B3 so my record was pressed with the third stamps of the first set.

The number of my record is 663 out of 5000 so it is a very early pressing.  So the Record itself and all the inner documents are in perfect condition.  The outer box is in fair condition.  The first day I owned the record I was sitting at my desk looking at all of the documents that were inside the box and I left the box itself sitting on my chair and my mother came into my room and before I noticed what she was doing she sat on the box.  Luckily the record was not in there but the box itself was damaged.  I took pictures of everything so you can judge the shape for yourself.  The top two corners of the front cover on the box are separated and the top side was bent back, you can see small stress  marks on the bottom of the front cover and there is a stress mark on the bottom of the back.  The only other issue is there is a small tear on the actual album cover inside.  This tear was there from the first time I opened the box so I can't tell you how it happened.

Examine the pictures carefully, there are no returns on records.

If you are looking for an item to display with a nice box to show this is probably not for you.  If you are looking for the best audio quality to own and enjoy for yourself then this might be just what you are looking for.
