Description
One of a nice collection of Classical rarities we have just had in, a single cherished and many unplayed lps.
Early 70's UK Decca Narrow Band Made In England labels SXL 2305 Holst Planets Karajan VPO 6W10W Unmarked Near Mint. These last generation analogue pressings were cut on Neumann lathes that could extract the most tonal bandwidth from the mastertapes up to that date. A nice clean Harry Fisher mastering in lovely sound. My own collection is dominated with these and Decca SDD's because I prefer best sound over rarity as my measure for collectability, and yes, I have King Super Analogs, Recuts, MFSL's Classics and Speakers Corner - these often best them as they are from fresh mastertapes, and in this case from the same mastering engineer even, who made the first pressing (and by then has 8 to 10 years more experience).
Record is in Near Mint condition, no marks and very clean playing surfaces. Stace printed Sleeve is Near Mint. blue squares inner is near mint, the little sign of wear to this suggesting as do the lack of many spindle trails that this has not been played much in its 40 year life. .
Heard throughout, this played excellent with a minimal amount of surface without even being cleaned.
