Rare long long gone and rare exact 2nd press of an ultra cool UK freakbeat collectible worth its weight in gold, or so it seems (i.e. first press is a fortune, literally)...but this ages old second PAGE ONE pressing should do the trick, even so, it's a tough one to find that does not turm up much...and minty vinyl here...
Formed in London in 1968, Apple led by lead guitarist Rob Ingram and vocalist Denis Regan recorded only one album during their short tenure, but what an album it is....
APPLE A Day... is one of the most sought-after UK psychedelic albums. It's a fine amalgam of psychedelia and heavy R&B with a layer of Beatles qualities melodics. Both of their monster rated 45s are included and these four tracks are among its finer moments. The most psychedelic, The Otherside, and Buffalo Billycan, easily made it on early psychedelic compilation series. The most BEATLES like were Doctor Rock, a straight-ahead rocker, and Let's Take A Trip Down The Rhine. There are also a couple of good Yardbirds' styled jams - Rock Me Baby and Psycho Daisies - and a fine effort on Sporting Life. Not as inventive as the Open Mind LP, for example, but it does deserve to be up there as one of the gold nuggets of British psychedelia.
