THE REAL THING, BUT NOT COMPLETE:
Like so many highly sought treasures, this one fell into the wrong hands somewhere along the line. The four-pocket sleeve was cut in half, and the Hopkin 45 and Iveys 45 went missing. This leaves us with – to adapt a line from Yellow Submarine – “half a whole hanyway.” Included is the half sleeve shown here with the correct 1968 Beatles photo, along with the authentic Beatles interview 45 in less than great condition (G+ ?? It produced a great deal of static when played but did not skip) and the Lomax 45 in maybe G+. Fortunately, the labels were not tampered with. The white Intervista labels have ringwear and age discoloration; while the Lomax Apple labels look pretty good. All that noted, this is the real thing – and a chance to at least have the authentic Beatles interview 45 in your collection without paying hundreds of dollars. I purchased this item years ago on Gemm.com, taking a chance on a listing from an Italian dealer offering a pair of 45s as “Sour Milk Sea + 1”. I was quite happy to have my gamble pay off, just as I was pleased to fill that hole in my collection. It’s definitely cooler than the bootleg copies some folks try to fob off as originals.
