UNKNOWN NORTHERN SOUL 45 ACETATE LISTEN
MEGA RARE Unreleased, Single Sided, One-Off, US Northern Soul 45, Acetate featuring the unknown track: 'Home To My Waiting Woman'.
After a posting on a well known Northern Soul forum by legendary Northern Soul DJ Ian Dewhirst (Frank!), who had never heard of the track, and after extensive and fruitless internet searches we can find NO other copy of this record or reference to this recording making it perhaps one of the rarest Northern Soul records to EVER be auctioned on ebay.
What we can tell you is that it was found just before a very well known reggae record label that had been releasing music and distributing since the mid 1960s finally sold off its vinyl stock, and this was unearthed in a forgotten box, in a corner of their warehouse, that had not been opened for many decades. It was found with 4 other historically significant acetates that we are currently selling this week on ebay.
This is clearly a Music Publisher's reference copy as it comes with the original Music Publishers/Song Writers score insert with music and lyrics. (see pic) clearly identifying it it as an original one-off 60s recording that has never seen release. It was probably sent to the Music Publisher in the 1960s from the US as a song writing reference copy.
Superbly sung by an unknown American session singer, it may have been sung by the song writer himself, as we believe that this copy was produced and cut by the Music Publisher or Song Writer as the master reference for the song, perhaps with the intention of being given to another more famous singer, as there is no reference to the artist on the acetate, suggesting it was a one off cut intended soley for publishing reference purposes.
The acetate was cut by Arnorld Jay Music Inc (New Jersey). This acetate is in amazing 'EX' condition. Acetates are rarely this clean, especially from this era, and as you can see from the picture the acetate still retains its original shiny lustre. The sleeve is in VG+ condition.
We are keen to hear from Northern Soul collectors who may know more about this piece of soul history, and we will post any further information if it becomes available.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This is a MEGA MEGA MEGA rare item and may well be the only copy of this song in existence. Your Northern Soul collection is not complete without obtaining this rare and historically significant holy grail... they just don't come rarer and more coveted than an original one-off one-sided unreleased 60s Northern Soul acetate in pristine condition... so please bid accordingly!
