UNKNOWN LATE 1960's or EARLY 1970's DEMO ACETATE -- My Life Is New -- ex. rare, original 10" 45 RPM one-sided single. This is an apparently unknown and unreleased Demo Acetate test pressing for a superb, uptempo Northern Soul-R&B type vocal number in the classic late 1960's-early 1970's Motown style of Marvin Gaye, Jackie Wilson, The Temptations etc. with an irresistible driving beat, soaring male vocals and classic female backing chorus. Sample lyrics: "Going down I was sinking fast / Each breath felt like my last / I had the will but hope was almost gone / You came and gladness came on strong / My life is new ... thanks to you." The label lists "April and Blackwood" which was a major late 1960's - early 1970's music publisher -- this was apparently pressed up (in Mono!) as a test to gauge the song's commercial potential and/or interest other artists in covering it. I can't find any information that this song or performance was ever released commercially -- for Northern Soul/R&B/Motown fans, it's a unique opportunity to discover a lost gem from the vaults. In generic tan sleeve. Record: VG+/VG++, light scuffs on outer edge of acetate (before the song begins), light background noise in places from quality of demo acetate pressing, overall very clean, on April-Blackwood demo label, U.S. press.
