Description

This is Smorgasbord Records #2 - UP FRONT's LP titled Spirit. I remember when this record came out hearing that the original pressing sold out really quickly. I had never heard the band, but I though for sure they must've been super great if their records had sold that fast. I ordered this through the mail (something I hardly ever did at all) and month and months and months later, it finally showed up. A little dinged up (there's some pressure creases on the record cover), but it showed up nonetheless. It was always great to get actual mail. Traditional mail was (and still is) a treat, so I tore open the box and threw this record on my turntable right away. And man was I disappointed. The long awaited full length by Up Front turned out to not be so good after all. I was bummed. While lamenting to a friend about how disappointed I was, he said: Well at least you got the pink cover... I heard they only made 500 of those. Where he was getting his information? ... I'll never know. But maybe this is rare. Maybe there are only 500 copies with this magenta cover. I don't know. All I know is that I have no business owning it anymore. Someone out there who actually cares about the pink cover for the Up Front record should own this, not me. AND, as a special bonus to the lucky winner of this record, I will happily throw in for free the BROTHERHOOD 6 song 7 inch called No Tolerance For Ignorance on red vinyl (Skate Edge Records circa 1988). I'm not really sure why I'm lumping these two records together except for the fact that they're both a redish pink in color, and both fall under the catagory of Straight Edge Records I Will Never Play Again. This little gem was another rare mail order purchase for me - one that I should add took seriously FOREVER to show up at my doorstep. I thought for sure that whoever was running Skate Edge Records took my miserable 3 dollars and spent it on 12 games of Galaga down at some arcade in Englewood, CO. I thought for sure this record would never show up - BUT - not only did it show up, it arrived with an apology inside that says: Dear Skate-Edge Customer, I'd like to apologize for the delay in sending your order (brotherhood 7") There was a pressing plant delay of shipping the records to me Thanks for your patience & take care. Not bad, huh? Skate-Edge pulled through. They earned my respect again. Apology accepted. It's a shame that by the time I got the record I had already moved on to listening to SoulSide, Fugazi, Ignition, Shudder To Think, and Swiz and there was no turning back. Had I gotten the record sooner, who knows, I may pumped my fist in the air and rocked a 2 fingered point while shouting some lyrics for a few more years. But as it turned out, I never again revisited the world of athletically fashioned straight edge hardcore again. As always, buyer pays for shipping and MUST contact me to arrange and agree to shipping fees. If you pay with a personal check, I will not ship your record until your check has cleared. Thanks and good luck.
