This is the album that solidified Uriah Heep's reputation as a master of gothic-inflected heavy metal.
From short, sharp rock songs to lengthy, musically dense epics, Demons and Wizards finds Uriah Heep covering all the bases with style and power.
The album's approach is set with its lead-off track, "The Wizard": it starts as a simple acoustic tune but soon builds into a stately rocker that surges forth on a wall of sound built from thick guitar riffs, churchy organ, and operatic vocal harmonies.
Other highlights include "Traveller in Time," a fantasy-themed rocker built on thick wah-wah guitar riffs, and "Circle of Hands," a stately power ballad with a gospel-meets-heavy metal feel to it.
However, the top highlight of the album is the closing medley of "Paradise" and "The Spell": the first part of the medley starts in an acoustic folk mode and slowly adds layers of organ and electric guitar until it becomes a forceful slow-tempo rocker, while the second half is a punchy, organ-led rocker that includes an instrumental midsection where choral-style harmonies fortify a killer guitar solo from Mick Box.
All in all, Demons and Wizards works both as a showcase for Uriah Heep's instrumental firepower and an excellent display of their songwriting skills in a variety of hard rock styles and as a result, it is considered by many fans to be their finest hour

LABELS: The labels are pristine - clean, bright and unmarked with no spindle traces or signs of use
VINYL Visual: The vinyl surfaces still retain their original deep, like-new glossy sheen and are practically unmarked - there are some (mega) light sleeve hairlines but these have absolutely no audio consequence - the playback is superb
VINYL Audio: Outstanding - a beautifully recorded album with crystal clear, deep, rich audio reproduction - very powerful and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my records prior to listing and its always a great pleasure to return to this one) there are no scratches, no jumps/sticks, no surface noise and no loud clicks/pops. This is a beautifully clean press with practically silent run-ins and track divisions and with the quieter passages playing as beautifully (and quietly) as you could wish for. The whole album plays throughout to just about the highest possible standard with great clarity, no groove-wear, no distortion (it's possibly never been played), sounds stunning and is critically graded MINT(-) for audio - fabulous copy
SLEEVE: The original gatefold cover is also in great condition - crisp, sharp, clean and fresh with hardly any wear to speak of. Clean, unrubbed surfaces with non of the ring-wear which commonly affects this cover - to be very picky there is a touch of record impression on the back but it's extremely minor - otherwise, a very, very fine example - one of the best I've seen - NEAR MINT
LYRIC INNER: The original inner printed on soft paper with a silky matt finish unfortunately has a split to the bottom edge (8 cms) but is otherwise, clean and unmarked with just some record impression and light signs of handling but because of the split it can only be described as VERY GOOD
