This album was the debut of Uriah Heep, a band that would become one of the titans of the '70s heavy metal sound. Despite their eventual hard-rocking reputation, …Very 'Eavy...Very 'Umble finds the band trying on different stylistic hats as they work towards finding their own sound. The album's finest achievement is "Gypsy": this heavy metal gem nails the blend of swirling organ riffs, power chords, and leather-lunged vocal harmonies that would define the group's classic tunes and remains a staple of the band's live performances today. Despite occasional moments of stylistic schizophrenia, …Very 'Eavy...Very 'Umble is a likable album that shows the promise that Uriah Heep would soon realize. Anyone with a serious interest in Uriah Heep or the roots of heavy metal will find plenty to like on Very 'Eavy...Very 'Umble.
Side A of the vinyl is in very good plus condition with some very light surface marks, the exception being a noticeable mark across track 3 (shown in photo)**. If that were not there I would rate it as excellent condition.
** I have played through the album and whilst the mark is audible as a soft click on this track it does not affect the play of the track which plays through perfectly. The rest of the album plays excellently.
Side B of the vinyl is in excellent condition with only a few light surface marks which do not affect play.
Neither side has any noticeable spindle marks on the label, both sides are in very clean condition.
The fully-laminated gatefold sleeve is in excellent condition with some light creasing to the edges and very minor corner wear, the spine is fully intact and legible. The inside of the sleeve is in excellent condition.
All in all, this is a very nice copy of a highly collectable album.
