Description
I have finally decided that my beloved vinyl collection has to go, since I havn`t owned a deck for the last 10 years it seems pretty pointless to keep them any longer. This is the first to go and probably the most interesting. I will try to give all the important stuff but if there is any information missing please ask.
First the history lesson:
To the best of my memory, I went to see these guys at a gig held at a local college somewhere in the West Midlands, my best mate was dating a lad who was in the supporting band. I was sweet sixteen and totally entranced by them and I think I bought the record at the gig that night. My memory might be a bit faulty by now but it must have been 1970 sometime because in 1971 my mate moved away to study, it must have been local because our mums would not have let us go any further. The fact that it made my parents visibly shudder was enough reason to play it a lot but I was working in a record shop at the time so I knew how to take care of my records and play them carefully.
Now the bit that you are really interested in;
Condition
By the date this is probably a first pressing
Vertigo label number 6360 006
The cover is laminated, gatefold and in very good condition considering its age. There are a few small creases in the laminate and the corners are slightly worn but not enough to detract from the overall appearance. Inside the gatefold the picture is bright and clear.
It has the distinctive Vertigo inner sleeve, white background with the Vertigo swirl on both sides, this is probably as you would expect yellowed with age and there is a tiny tear (about 4mm) in the centre on one side.
The vinyl itself is thick and shiny with some surface marks but no obvious deep scratches.
Side A has the large Vertigo swirl and side B has the small one above the playlist
The numbers stamped on the vinyl are:
side A - 6360006 1y//1 v 420
side B - 6360006 2y//1 v 420
not really a `v` but a little triangle and after these numbers on both sides there are some numbers that I can`t quite read but I think they say L 1 on one side and L 1 5 on the other.
I am not an expert by any means but I have been reading up on how to classify condition and based on what I have read I would classify this as in at least Very Good + condition. Quite a rare find these days.
I would welcome any advice from the buyer on how best to pack this and will offer full refund if the record is in any way not as I have described it. The refund will be made once I have received the record back and will not include my postage and packing costs. I will get a receipt of postage or send by recorded delivery, whichever the buyer prefers and will help with any claim should it be lost in the post.
