Description
The United States Air Force Band & Singing Sergeants at the 27th Annual Mid-West National Band & Orchestra Clinic (now The Midwest Clinic, An International Band & Orchestra Conference) in December 1973, with conductor/commander Col. Arnald D. Gabriel. The impressive program:
Transitions (1973 CBDNA Commissioned Work) by Henk Badings
Alborado del Gracioso (world premiere) by Ravel/transcription by Larry Odom (USAF Band harpist)
Strike Up The Band, a medley commemorating Gershwin's 75th anniversary year, by Gershwin/Krance
Partita (1973 ASBDA Volkwein Award) by Willis
Festival Fanfare (1973 ABA Ostwald Award) by Roger Nixon
Roman Festivals by Respighi/transcription by Larry Odom
March from Symphonic Metamorphosis of Themes by Carl Maria von Weber, by Hindemith/Wilson
We Hold These Truths from the writings of Thomas Jefferson (world premiere), by Floyd Werle and narrated by Harry Gleeson (members of the USAF Band)
LP vinyl is pristine, probably never played. Recorded by Crest Records (as Silver Crest) in the Grand Ballroom at the Conrad Hilton (later the Chicago Hilton & Towers). Album cover's top edge is slightly damaged, looks like shelf friction rub.
