U.S. MAPLE Long Hair... LP *MEGA-RARE!* Metal Sleeve US
Up for bid is a super-rare vinyl copy of Long Hair in Three Stages by U.S. Maple. Only 1000 of these LPs were pressed and came with hand-made sheet metal jackets made by the band members themselves. The metal sleeves fit over a generic black record cover and includes slots where the CD booklet is inserted.
This is number 52 out of an edition of 1000!
The LP is in immaculate M- condition and the metal cover is also in like-new M- condition. The generic black cardboard LP cover has a little wear because of the metal sleeve that has been slid over it. This comes in the original plastic LP bag with the numbered edition sticker. There is a couple-inch section of the plastic bag on the lower spine that has worn through. I will include a brand-new LP bag as well.
This album was released on Skin Graft Records in 1995.
Since the cover is made of metal, the shipping will be a little bit higher than for a typical LP.
No Reserve! Serious bids only, please.
From the AllMusic.com Review:
U.S. Maple's debut album is nothing short of stunning, combining angular guitar attacks, odd skronks, jazzy tones, and a generally deconstructive approach to music into a sound of unparalleled idiosyncrasy. The record's finest moments come when the slanted attack and fractured composition converge to simulate something approaching a conventional song ("Letter to ZZ Top," with lyrics like "Give my bones to Billy Gibbons," pretty much rules out any notion of normality). Between these off-kilter constructions and the group's even more off-kilter deconstructions, a truly amazing record is created, one that combines hard-edged, "whiskey, no chaser" rock with exceptionally intelligent slants and fractures.

I prefer payment via PayPal but I will accept Money Orders, Cashier Checks and Personal Checks for U.S. orders or in U.S. Dollars ONLY. It's not that I don't want your delicious, delicious Euros, it's just that I'm not set up to process payments in foreign currencies.
Please allow up to an additional two weeks for personal checks to clear.
Vinyl is carefully packed with bubble wrap and shipped in a sturdy custom cardboard LP box. Insurance is not required but it is highly recommended. I can't be liable for uninsured shipments. Some people like the record removed from the sleeve for shipping to prevent seam splits. I'm more than happy to do that. Just let me know.
Packages will generally be mailed within one business day of payment (add two weeks for personal checks). Shipping costs include shipping materials. I'm not out to rip anyone off on exorbitant shipping charges. All shipping charges are calculated based on the actual weight of the item plus the box. For LPs and 10"s I add $1.50 for the cost of the custom LP box, bubble wrap, etc. For 7"s I add $1.00.
Actual insurance costs may vary according to the winning bid amount.
Shipping Time Estimates from the US Postal Service
(remember, these are estimates, not guarantees)
- Media Mail - 2 to 9 Days
- Priority Mail - 2 to 3 Days
- First Class Mail International - Varies by Destination
- Priority Mail International - 6 to 10 Business Days
Prompt payment upon auction end is greatly appreciated! Please try to ante up with 7 days, or at least drop me a line and let me know there will be a delay. I've got no problem with that, and I will be more than happy to hold on to a purchase if you're bidding on something else I've got for sale and you want to combine shipping. Within reason.
Returns are handled on a per-case basis, and I'm a pretty reasonable guy. Please contact me if you are not satisfied with your purchase. Returns for uninsured items damaged during shipping can not be accepted, so please remember to buy insurance.
All vinyl is play graded and is scored according to GoldmineTM standards. I work on the assumption that there is no such thing as a MINT LP that has been opened and played, so M- is as good as it gets. All records come in a protective plastic sleeve.
**The item pictured is the item you will get, guaranteed. No substitutes; no bait & switch -- ever!**
I'm not a record store, I'm just a luddite trying to move into the digital age and reclaim some space in my living room. I stand by my product descriptions and, while judging the quality and condition of LPs can be a subjective endeavor, I do my absolute best to deliver records that are in the condition described.
