You are bidding on a very rare album which hardly ever comes onto the market on this particular label. The ones you see for sale are on the Tamla label but this was released on the Oriole label in the UK.
This was the first live album by Stevie Wonder and was released in May 1963 at the same time as the single, Fingertips (taken from the album). The single topped The Billboard Top 100 and R&B Singles charts and the album topped the Billboard 200.
I have cleaned and played both sides of the disc (which I bought on its release in 1963) and is one of the most iconic albums I have ever owned. I’m sure the serious collectors of Northern Soul out there recognise its rarity.
The “Genius” title of the album proved to be prophetic as he became one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century and is still highly regarded nearly 50 years later.
The disc has retained its high lustre and is in near EX condition. Also plays extremely well with no jumps or skips and there is no writing on the labels.
The sleeve is a flipback made by E.J. Day and is graded VG. It has ringwear, some discolouration and a scuff. Spine title is undamaged. Check the condition in the photos below.
