Description
You won't find this wonderful prog psych LP very often. It's from 1973 and is by a German band called Utopia. It's entitled 'Utopia' and is pressed on the United Artists label (catalogue no. UAG 29438). Apparently, Utopia was formed by members of Amon Duul II (see below) when they left the band after falling out with co-band members during the recording of the Amon Duul II album called 'Wolf City'. Eventually everyone became friends again and I think that 5 members of Amon Duul II eventually played on the Utopia album. The music is magnificent with guitar, keyboards and woodwind instruments prominent. It has a great progressive/psychedelic feel. This is a stereo pressing.
OUTER SLEEVE - The gatefold sleeve which is in fine condition. There is some very minor creasing close to the spine and some very slight wear on each corner which is hardly visible. There is some wear on front and back and definite ring wear on the back. All the edges are slightly worn but with no evident damage and the spine is in fine condition with some minor wear and very slight damage at the top and bottom of the spine which is not very noticeable. The wording along the spine is 99% readable. I've graded the sleeve as VG++.
INNER SLEEVE - This is a United Artists cream colouredcompany type with no plastic liner. On both sides it states - 'UNITED ARTISTS RECORDS LONDON ENGLAND'. There is a split on one side of the inner sleeve which has been internally repaired with clear tape. I've graded the inner bag VG+.
RECORD - The record itself is in superb condition with some very minor surface marks on both sides. It plays beautifully on both sides with some surface noise and just one or two pops and clicks. There are definitely no jumps on any of the tracks. The labels are in lovely condition and there are some very minor spindle marks. There is no damage to the labels on either side. It states at the bottom of each label - 'Produced by Olaf Kubler'. The matrix numbers on the run-off grooves are as follows - side one - UAG 29438 A - 1U (stampers 1 R) - side two - UAG 29438 B - 1U (stampers 1 M). I have graded the record as Ex and I believe that this is very fair. I try to grade everything as accurately and conservatively as possible. The winner of this auction will not be disappointed. All my items are 100% guaranteed and can be returned for a full refund if the buyer is not satisfied with the product. It will be extremely difficult to find this fantastic record again.
