Their 3rd album. On this album the psychedelic soul arrangements are stunning. Nasty funk, ethereal & crisp waterfalls of vocals, a version of 'Love & Happiness' that ably demonstrates an understanding of Willie Mitchell's magnetic sense of rhythm, and more. Norman Whitfield broke away from Motown with these guys as his flagship band the year this record came out. In some ways, their sessions were tryouts for Temptations productions, but Whitfield was also making a calling card to leave behind for everyone who was still under Gordy's thumb: the now generation lived beyond Detroit.
