Description
"Unhappy Birthday" Original 1946 ABC Atomic Bomb Hiroshima Program This auction is for an original transcription from the 1946 ABC program, Unhappy Birthday. From what I can gather online, this program aired on August 6, 1946, on the 1 year anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. It's a dramatic production featuring Clifton Fadiman, Edna Ferber, and Josh White. This transcription contains sides 2 and 5 only. Each side runs just under 5 minutes. The record plays fine. Josh White can be heard singing first up on side 2. The gist of the program is that a U.S. veteran named "Joe" is being educated about nuclear proliferation, the prospect of a nuclear war, and the proposition of a global government. He doesn't want to hear any of it because he's tired of war and just wants to have fun (like most Americans at that time). He dismisses it all as propaganda. But then he falls asleep and dreams about the Hiroshima bombing...
This is an extremely rare item. No recording of it exists as far as I can tell.
