MICKEY MANGUN

If you’re learning about POA, you certainly will want to know about our beloved “Mick.” She is the wife of our Bishop and the mother of our Senior Pastor and a friend to all. While a gifted singer and musician, her true talent is loving people. These days, much of her time is invested in our SEVEN Ministry: a restoration ministry she started several years ago.

Bishop and Mick have two children: Miquell (Mrs. Jeff Hennigan) and Gentry (wife, Lexie Dauzat Mangun). They have two granddaughters, Eva Hennigan and Izabel Mangun, and two grandsons, Gibson Hennigan and Gad Mangun.

Mickey Lumpkin Mangun was born in Selma, Alabama on September 2, 1953 to Jean and James Lumpkin. From the age of seven, when she became the organist for her father’s church, or perhaps even earlier, Mickey Mangun has had the heart and soul of a worshiper. Today, she is the worship leader in a church of over 3,000 pastored by her son Gentry Mangun. Following their marriage in 1972, after a few years of itinerant ministry, Anthony and Mickey Mangun settled in Plano, Texas where they served as pastor at Abundant Life Church from 1976-1981. In 1981, they returned to her husband’s hometown and home church, The Pentecostals of Alexandria, where he serves as Bishop.

Mickey Mangun is a gifted singer, songwriter, and musician. She has recorded twelve projects (including solo projects, choir projects, etc.). She is a vocalist of The Pentecostals of Alexandria choir. Four Louisiana Governors have invited Mickey to sing at their Inaugurations. At President Bill Clinton’s personal invitation, she sang at the inaugural church services in both 1993 and 1997 as well as participated in the PBS concert series, “In Performance at the White House.” She also was one of the featured singers at the dedication of the Clinton Memorial Library in Arkansas.

Messiah was a musical/drama presentation presented biannually by The Pentecostals of Alexandria for over twenty years. Mickey served as the Producer of this unique portrayal of the life, death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ which involved a cast of over 500 individuals and is attended by crowds of over 30,000 each performance year.

In addition to the role and responsibilities of bishop's wife, Mickey Mangun is committed to her local community. In striving to improve the lives of needy individuals in the area, she is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors. She served on the Board of Directors of the local YWCA from 1985-1990. She was on the Board of Directors for Rapides Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She presently serves on the Board of Tupelo Children’s Mansion in Tupelo, Mississippi.
