Twin TRG 44 by Lightnin King: Love Is A Great Thing b/w Fannie Mae. Twin is a Miami, Florida label that also put out a couple of rockabilly 45s int late 50s. No evidence this 45 ever sold on ebay. Couldn't find it any books. Bluesy R&B with fine lead guitar and rough vocals. What is this? Two guitars and drums backing up a vocalist who sounds a lot like Lightnin Hopkins, with that Texas drawl. The rhythm guitar plays in a 50's R&B walking style, backing a very modern electric blues lead that goes off into Wes Montgomery territory towards the end of side two. Freddie King was more than capable of this type of playing. It's interesting to think the two might have recorded together, both being from Texas; a meeting of the minds of prewar and postwar Texas blues styles, left for posterity on this 45. The songwriter credits are Freddie King, with co production credit on the label. Publisher credit is Elkee Music. Didn't Freddie King publish under Eldee music in the late 50s? Here is a mystery 45. Moderate ring wear on label. Vinyl is glossy with light scuffs and some scratches. Grade VG.
