Description

For your consideration is a record I've never seen before.. 'Let Me Comfort You/Good By My Love' by The Magnetics on the blue and silver Sound Trip label out of Richmond Virginia, 20292. Vinyl rates VG-, with a number of moderate marks. As you can hear with the sound clip (NOTE: IT CAN BE HEARD ON THE 2ND AND 3RD SOUND CLIPS, THE FIRST IS ROCKIE BROWN, ANOTHER AUCTION I HAVE UP THIS WEEK. FOR SOME REASON AUCTIONPLAYER HAS PUT IT ON THIS AUCTION, TOO, AND I CAN'T TAKE IT OFF FOR THE MOMENT), there is some definitely audible background noise, although sound quality is somewhat better than it sounds on auctionplayer. This has as much to do with the quality of the poor sound engineering quality. It must have been a real basement studio recording job. The sound is somewhat distant and quiet, so any flaws in the record (and there are some) are magnified. Great music straddles deep soul/psych soul/northern soul/early funk and the blues. The bass player and guitarist (with some mad effects) can play, and the singing w/ bizarre amateur background vocals is inspired. Great lost record, this. Given the sound quality, I doubt this was made with any serious distribution in mind and there are probably minimal copies floating around. One of several rare soul records I am putting up this week, including some other great undocumented private label stuff. Please check out my other auctions!
