One of the rarest pieces of white stripes' memorabilia- The Upholsterers "Makers of High Grade Suites" test pressing (made by Sympathy for the Record Industry). For those of you who don't know, a test pressing is a piece of wax created by a record pressing plant in conjunction with a Record company (SFTRI) to check the quality and performance of a record. These are generally made in quantities of 10 or less, making this the RAREST white stripes' record available!!!! The record is on black wax with a white dust cover and white labels, catalogue number SFTRI 611. This is a 3-track, 7", 45 rpm record. Absolutely mint condition!!! The Upholsterers are a little side-project created by Jack White (the infamous lead man himself) and Brian Muldoon (of the Muldoons, Tin Knocker, and guest musician on White Stripes' tunes such as 'Pack it Up'). In his blue-collar days, Jack White was an upholsterers' apprentice to Brian Muldoon. Later, White went on to create his own upholstery and taxidermy business called Third Man Upholstery. And this little single is an homage to their teamwork. Featuring three songs: Apple of My Eye, Ain't Superstitious, and Pain (Gimmie Sympathy). One of these test pressings has sold in excess of $800! Where did I acquire it? heh. No sir, I don't mind a bit. This was given to me some years back by a very special friend. I can't say why for certain, but I like to think there was something about the way I bumble around or some such that tickled him someth'n wicked. He is a Detroit musician himself, and of course he's got his collections, I'm sure... He knew I loved the white stripes and couldn't stop hoarding their toys and records and all that cal... I dunno. Told me he wanted to give me something. Ran off, come back... gimme this record.
