Uriah Heep - Salisbury very rare large vertigo swirl U.K. 6360028 EX/EX+ 1Y1/2Y1

On offer here is a very scarce original album by Uriah Heep entitled Salisbury released in 1971 U.K..on the extremely collectible large vertigo swirl label 6360 028.I would grade this as EX/EX+.In my ratings EX+ is the same as NM. I am of the opinion this album is becoming much harder to track down especially in any decent shape and is the rarest of Uriah Heep albums.The music is brilliant progressive rock with an element of acid folk.The matrix numbers are 1Y1 116 2Y1 119. I am not an expert on matrices but this looks as if it is the earliest ever or at least a very early pressing.Like most vertigo swirl albums,this album will continue to rise in value for the foreseeable future so would be an investment.In the 2002 rare record guide this album had a book value of £30 but now it sells for 20 times as much in some cases.Just have a look at the photographs.It comes with the vertigo inner sleeve.
Labels
These are crisp and bright with no writing or marks on them with only the merest trace of any spindle wear.The record looks as if it has only been played a few times maybe around 4 or 5.
Vinyl
This is a stunning example.Even under the strongest light I could not see any marks or scuffs or scratches.There are no jumps or repeating grooves.Even on the quietest tracks there was hardly any background noise ,not really perceptible and the very occasional virtually inaudible click on side 2 but I am being very picky mentioning this.These vertigo swirl albums like Harvest were issued on vinyl with a lighter weight due to a plastic shortage in the early 70s and many played with audible background crackle and hiss even when purchased new from a record shop but this album is a welcome exception.The album has been cleaned with a professional cleaning machine worth £1000s but in reality I did not need to pay the fee for this.I would grade the vinyl side 1 near mint,side 2 a good excellent.
Sleeve
These sleeves were not laminated,are fragile and are prone to excessive wear.I have seen many sleeves which are badly worn even torn and usually the writing on the spine is missing or illegible.On this sleeve there is a small amount of wear on the top and bottom as can be seen from the photographs but in my opinion the amount of wear is acceptable and falls within the Record Collector guidelines for excellent.There is minimal wear on the spine and all the writing on the spine is clearly legible with no missing letter.Overall this sleeve is far better than most and I think anyone would struggle to get a better one.
Overall ,I do not think this album will disappoint any winning bidder and to give everyone a chance,I have deliberately set a low start price for the auction.It goes without saying that if anyone is disappointed,I offer a compromise or a full refund.I have played through this album to grade it on a Linn Sondek.Please contact me directly if there is a problem.Please if you are secretly happy,do not contact me simply to negotiate a lower price than the amount bid.This defeats the purpose of ebay.Please note I shall be unavailable for the last 3 days of the auction so please raise any queries before then.
