THE BLUES . . . A REAL SUMMIT MEETING (various artists). 2-LP gatefold Mobile Fidelity album in Mint/Mint condition. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Catalog # MFSL 2-518 (originally on Buddah Records 1973)
Condition: Vinyl genuinely pristine, played exactly twice by me, the original owner. Packaging likewise essentially virgin. Includes original MFSL soft poly inner sleeves (no promotional inserts, though).
Behind the Music: Since I resided in NYC at time of this event (June 1973), I can only surmise I lacked the funds to purchase a ticket, or got word too late about the concert. Otherwise I would surely have been in the audience. But thanks to the good people at the small Buddah Records label and Mobile Fidelity, I—and soon you—get almost as good an experience as the live one. The performers: B.B. King (also emceeing); ‘Big Mama’ Thornton; Jay McShann; Eddie ‘Cleanhead’ Vinson (under-appreciated to this day, I think); Arthur ‘Big Boy’ Crudup; Lloyd Glenn; McKinley Morganfield a.k.a. ‘Muddy Waters’; Clarence ‘Gatemouth’ Brown; and B.B. King, closing with “Outside Help” (hey, he doesn’t need it!). This concert was recorded at Lincoln Center in what is now called David Geffen Hall, as part of Newport in New York Festival, overseen by concert impresario George Wein. If you dig the Blues, you need to own this album, and its being on Mobile Fidelity justifies my asking price (in my humble opinion).

PLEASE NOTE: I will not sell anything for less than $9.99, as it’s not worth packaging the item up and taking it to the Post Office. Sure, you can buy an LP for 50 cents or less at a yard sale, but will it have been cared for like mine? Not likely.
