STEVIE WONDER: Innervisions. Used vintage gatefold LP (not a RE) in Near Mint/Near Mint condition. Tamla Records LP Catalog # T 6231; 1973
Condition: The vinyl itself is in excellent shape; parts of the label have a raised appearance, likely from a poor batch of glue. But labels are totally legible, colors still pristine. Jacket is essentially without flaw, perhaps just slightly yellowed with age (50+ years now!). Included is original paper inner sleeve with promo for 100+ page book, “The Songs of Stevie Wonder” and order form. Yours for only five bucks! A dollar was actually worth something back then. And most folks could even afford to buy eggs! Oh, the nostalgia!
Behind the Music: Knowing that Stevland Morris (‘Stevie Wonder’) was a genius producer as well as musical performer, Motown Records gave him his own label to play around with. Thus was born the Tamla label. When this album appeared, it got very good airplay on NYC “progressive FM” radio, and surely in other major urban markets. This even included, at times, the full length run of “Living for the City.” Among the other songs immortalized on this release: Too High; Visions; Golden Lady; Higher Ground; All in Love is Fair; He’s Misstra Know-It-All. Heck, I may as well have listed them all, right? And that is why you should own this album.
