VARIOUS ARTISTS A Christmas Gift For You (Philles PHLP 4005) Phil Spector RARE US 1963 Pressing MINT
RARE US second pressing of the Phil Spector-produced Christmas album "A Christmas Gift For You" on Philles Records (November 1963). Originally released for a very short time with monochrome black/blue Philles labels, the album was immediately re-issued (before Christmas 1963!) with the yellow and red labelling found here.
This Christmas LP has withstood the test of time and is considered by many critics to be the best album of Phil Spector`s career.
“A Christmas Gift For You” originally had the misfortune of being released on November 22, 1963, the same day as the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, and was not a major commercial success that year. In the years since, however, it has been embraced as a beloved pop–culture touchstone, with many of its tracks becoming holiday airplay favorites.
In 2003, “A Christmas Gift For You” was ranked Number 142 on Rolling Stone`s list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. Long–time Spector fan Brian Wilson has named it as his all–time favourite LP. The album’s influence has also been reflected in cover versions by contemporary artists.

GRADING:
EX+ COVER with very minor all-round wear. Please see photos for details.
- Slightly bent corners at opening edge, top and bottom.
- Very minor ring wear to front cover and back covers, as shown.
- Includes the original inner sleeve in undamaged EX++ condition.
EX+ RECORD, carefully played a few times at most.
- Pristine vinyl on both sides, with near-perfect audio reproduction throughout.
- Light background crackle in the run-in grooves, as well as between tracks.
- Two superficial thumbnail scuffs (in "White Christmas" and "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer") are absolutely inaudible.
- Other than that, no hairlines, scratches, scuffs or other visible signs of play at all.
- Second-pressing (still 1963!) yellow and red Philles Records labels with a single spindle line on Side One.
- The handwritten matrixes in the run-off grooves read "PHLP 4005 Side One" and "PHLP 4005 Side Two".
- This record is certified to be a second US pressing of "A Christmas Gift For You", released in November 1963.
