An excellent condition copy of this Polydor double album release, numbered 2659 027 Super. In original gatefold sleeve with booklet, stamper number is 1.
This LP comes from a record dealer's stock, carefully stored after closing retail outlet and now being liquidated.
Tracks from: Jimi Hendrix; Freddie King; Eric Clapton; John McLaughlin; Shuggie Otis; Pete Townshend; Albert King; Harvey Mandel; Rory Gallagher; Duane Allman; Jan Akkerman; Les Harvey; Link Wray; Mick Taylor; BB King; Roy Buchanan. This is a collection of tracks from great (Polydor) guitarists from the previous few years. The tracks all feature guitar playing of a very high standard - the ones you haven't heard of all fully deserve to be there with the ones you have.
The cover features a mocked-up set of cigarette cards illustrating the guitarists on the album. This, the original release, includes an 8-page booklet stapled & glued to the inside gatefold. 2 pages of brief biography & partial discography of the guitarists featured. 2 pages of illustrations of the 16 "cigarette cards" - first page all fronts (not obscured by elastic bands); second all backs, with legible text. 1 page album reviews from Sounds of some of the artists - headline "KING CLAPTON - BACK TO STAY?". 1 page history & mechanics of the guitar by Dick Sadleir 1 page "Anyone can play guitar" - tuning, chords, 3-chord trick, chords for 'Frankie & Johnnie'. 1 page "A History of the Rock Guitar" by Malcolm Jones.
Inside front & back gatefold - colour photos of the guitarists - looks like the outside of the reissue.
