Description
Please see my listing for the classic No Respects album from VAIN
First press, this was bought in 1989 and has long been a favourite of mine.
The item is my Vain vinyl LP titled "No Respect" from 1989, released by Island Records in the UK. This 12" black vinyl record is in Excellent condition, particularly as it’s from 1989.
The sleeve graded as Good/Very Good as there is some creasing on the front right-hand side. See photos. No splits though and the sleave is sound.
Maybe you have the CD and yearn for the vinyl version or new to the passion it exudes - it’s damn good, no .. it’s amazing!
Internet Info -
Vain’s No Respect (1989) is widely regarded as a cult classic of late '80s sleaze/glam metal, offering a raw, gritty alternative to typical Sunset Strip bands. Known for sharp songwriting, gritty vocals, and a polished yet heavy production, the album is hailed by critics as a criminally underrated, high-energy masterpiece.
Key Takeaways & Highlights
- Sound: A unique mix of glam, hard rock, and punk attitude, often described as darker and more introspective than its contemporaries.
- Highlights: "Beat the Bullet," "Who's Watching You," "Secrets," "1000 Degrees," and "Laws Against Love".
- Production: Produced by Paul Lani (who worked on Megadeth's *Peace Sells*), giving it a, heavy, polished edge.
- Vinyl Experience: Remastered versions have highlighted clearer, more refined backing vocals compared to original pressings, making it a desirable item for collectors.
Critical Reception
- No Respect was considered "harder than their peers," and the band was unfortunately dropped by their label just as grunge emerged.
- Many reviewers on Amazon UK and Rate Your Music describe it as a top-tier, essential 80s rock album that holds up to frequent replaying.
Record will be packed in a sturdy vinyl mailer for extra protection.
