Another from my personal collection! Purchased from new and stored in a case with the vinyl removed from the sleeve and cover! This is how I have always stored my records! Also this is a very early original 1st UK pressing. Note: This album was pre-ordered when it was due to be released and I initially only ever played the vibnyl to record to tape and then store the album in a case with the vinyl removed from the cover and sleeve for protection, this is how I have always stored my records! Absolutely stunning top audio on my systems! Graded at least excellent plus to near mint in my opinion.! Note:Any interference is just light isolated static, background crackle heard perhapes in quieter places or in between tracks which is to be expected on these mid seventies pressings and could do with a contant cleaning before plays due to being stored in a case and laying dormant for over 43 years. Try to find another original UK issue like this! Genuine 43 years old and complete! The vinyl visually is near mint and the cover and lyric sleeve visually is at least excellent plus in my opinion. An archive copy, try to find better! Very collectable like this!
Listen to the complete album in the player below. Actual recording from the record listed!

Your browser does not support the audio element.Godbluff is the fifth album released by English progressive rock band Van der Graaf Generator.
It was the first disc after the band reformed in 1975 and was recorded after a European tour.
As the first self-produced album by the band, it featured a tighter, more pared-down sound than the band's earlier recordings with producer John Anthony.
Hammill said "we did not want to make 'Son of Pawn Hearts' with a big long side two and lots of studio experiments".
Van der Graaf Generator would never work with an outside producer from this point forward.
Hammill made extensive use of the Hohner Clavinet D6 keyboard, which he had first using on his previous solo album, Nadir's Big Chance (1975).
The first release of the record in the United States was on Mercury Records, and Charisma in the UK.
The 2005 reissue added live performances by the band of two songs from Peter Hammill's album The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage (1974), recorded at a concert at L'Altro Mondo, Rimini, Italy.
Godbluff's album cover was minimal, consisting of a band logo and "stamped" red album title on an otherwise black sleeve. The band logo that first appeared here was designed by John Pascheit would also be used on the next two albums, Still Life (April 1976) and World Record (October 1976).
Godbluff's sleeve design was later parodied on the cover of Fall Heads Roll by The Fall.
All tracks written by Peter Hammill, except where indicated.
Side one
1. "The Undercover Man" 7:32
2. "Scorched Earth" Hammill, David Jackson 9:43

The vinyl
This is the original heavier and thicker type of vinyl (only early press) later press are much more flimsier and less robust. The vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable and free of any warping.
This vinyl looks superb! I can barely see a blemish and this looks barely played in my opinion! Only in strong light can possibly any whyspy sleeve removal marks/scuffs possibly be seen! Beleive me this is a real rarety! 43 years old like this!
The Audio
This was played on a top system at very loud volume prior to listing The audio is cristal clear and vibrant with (no) distortion at all! (no) loud constant clicks or pops heard! (note: Allowances must be made for these mid seventies pressings: althought the vinyl has only ever been played two or three times only,, Please allow for light isolated static that may be heard in quieter places only or in between tracks probably caused due to fact that this vinyl has been laying dormant in a case for over 43 years and would need to have a constant cleaning before each play. Note Debrit was seen on the playing surface after play, indicating this. I would class myself as highly critical please look at my completed listing of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right! The audio is graded at least excellent plus to very near mint in my opinion. I dought that you would find a better copy of this vinyl.
Points to note! This album has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 43 years! A build up of dirt and dust over the years causes static ticks\crackle. A constant clean is recomended before each play. From my personal experiance this reduces static crackle and enhances the audio qaulity!
Please note! I always add this disclaimer! I have described the audio quality as honest and as I heard it. Although i never heard any major problems other than prevoiously described, Please allow for the odd light static crackle\ticks here and there (not) consistant through out the audio! Please remember that this is a genuine 43 year old vinyl that would have originally have been played on a 43 year old system!
The labels
These are the oiriginal 1st UK issue Charisma labels, (Large Mad Hatter) It is difficult for me to actually see any major spidering, perhapes a handfull only. This has obviously barely ever been played in my personal opinion. The spindle hole is perfectly round and free of any wear. Only ever played two or three times ever!
The Record Sleeve
This is the original card lyric record sleeve (Very clean) 'Made in Great Britain' patented sleeve! Only if looked at very hard I notice very slight foxing only worth to note. The vinyl has been seperated from the sleeve! Please note! An anti static liner was put in when I purchased this album many years ago, to protect the vinyl from the paper sleeve!
The Cover
This is the original 1st press, 1st issue James Upton unlaminated cover. Basically it looks like it has just come out of the shop in my opinion. Being primarily black these are almost impossible to keep in good condition like this one. Just try to find a better looking copy. No nasdt creases to mention very, very minor crease lines at the edges. The Spine is near perfect all writing clear and no crushing. A real beauty beleive me. This is strong and very straight must be at least excellent plus to Very Near Mint!
An Archive copy final upgrade!
