So, so hard to find, VDGG's all time classic album and here it is where it all came together from start to finish although the three predecessors were awesome in their own right!! Splendid maniacal existential prog album!! This is grandeur from the first note till the very last. I am very happy to be able to present this fantastic and ULTRA rare album. This will be a great first acquisition!!!

THE  VINYL PLAYS GREAT ALL THE WAY THROUGH BOTH SIDES WITH ONLY LIGHT STATIC HERE AND THERE BUT MAINLY ON THE SILENT GROOVES BETWEEN TRACKS AND IN THE BEGINNING OF EACH SIDE. 

Vinyl: EX+. Unbelievably it has no hairlines or marks and the audio is simply stunning. Just a few paper retraction traces only visible under a very strong light! Even a new vinyl would have these. The audio has beautiful separation and there is hardly ever any background noise.  I have played this through in its entirety on my Linn/Sondek/Rotel system and what a joy to come back to this classic once again... I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was even tempted to keep this as it will be very hard to find this again, it is indeed mega rare now in this kind of condition. A top investment object that will increase its value into the future. Needless to say NO jumps, clicks or ticks.  

Gatefold Sleeve: EX+.  Fantastic looked after  gatefold sleeve with beautiful rich colours and without any creasing.  It sits superbly flat and has a sharp crisp opening. This copy belongs in the top 10% of copies as the storage wear is hardly there and just extremely light on the bottom edge and corners, please look at supplied pictures for a full view.The spine is 100% legible. All edges are wonderfully unworn and dead straight.  A small indented number to the front top, barely visible. A beautiful original sleeve and a fantastic upgrade in TOP condition. The winner will be very pleased indeed!! No marks, no seam splits or tears. The inside gatefold is totally unmarked without any writing.  This is an upgrade for most VDGG  or prog collectors.

No doubt VAN DER GRAAF GENERATOR at the top of their game. "Pawn Hearts" is the band at their most aggressive, at least up until that point. Bassist Nic Potter had now left for good (he was later briefly a member of RARE BIRD, before going on to other things). Robert FRIPP once again lends a hand in this album. The album opens up with the wonderful "Lemmings". I just love the aggressive nature of this song, with Hugh Banton's spacy organ and David Jackson's sax, and ad that on with Peter HAMMILL's doomy lyrics. I especially like the organ that ends the song. "Man-Erg" starts off rather mellow, but is also loaded with more great and aggressive passages. Then you get the side-length epic "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers". This song goes through so many different changes, I really like those twisted passages. What's interesting is the Mellotron (a Mark II) makes a rare appearence. If you own the American LP, you'll also get treated with the band doing a version of George Martin's "Theme One", a truly amazing instrumental piece dominated by David Jackson's sax. This song was available in Great Britain only as a single released in 1972, ("W" being the other side). Totally essential album to your collection. (Taken from: progarchives.com by "Proghead")

The  lyric sheet is also still there, it is in 90% of the cases not present. Uncreased and is lightly yellowed with a small crease. I would grade it VG.
