Description
This is an overall fine copy from the first (1975) German pressing of the debut LP by British progressive group Van der Graaf Generator. Oddly, the record initially came out only in the US (in 1969). It wasn't until the mid-'70s that it saw release elsewhere (it didn't appear in the UK, an early test pressing excepted, until the late '90s). The band's debut is poppier than their subsequent releases, notably in the pretty leadoff track "Afterwards," which was released as a single in the US, and the brief, jokey title track. The melancholy and occasional menace infusing many of the other songs, though, anticipates the darker vibe of the group's subsequent LPs: Aerosol Grey Machine is hardly a Hollies record, in other words. The jacket has substantial creasing in one corner and light creasing in a second corner and along the spine and seams, and light wear in a couple of corners and along the bottom seam (VG+). Both seams have come partly unglued. The disc has some scuffing, and plays with occasional light surface noise -- EX(+).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their sleeves. The sleeves have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded discs except where otherwise noted.
