White Label Stereo Original 1st D promo pressing 1971 LABEL / LABELCODE MATRIX NUMBERS EXTRAS GRADING Warner Brothers WB 46 114 39987 & 39988 Laminated Single Cover M-/M- DESCRIPTION "Tupelo Honey" successfully marries His Band's sense of bliss and merriment with the perfectionism of Moondance. The solution is rhythm; not the funky city grooves of R&B and soul, but the foursquare rhythms of country music as conveyed through jangling acoustic guitars. To make the transition complete, jazz-oriented keyboardist Jeff Labes is replaced by honky-tonker Mark Jordan, John Platania's eclectic improvisations are supplanted by Ronnie Montrose's countrified licks, the sax section remains mostly idle, and steel guitarist John McFee is often front and center. Production-wise, co-producer Ted Templeman's preference for dense rhythm tracks is much in evidence. CONDITIONS RECORD: White label promos are always hard to find and Van Morrison promos are nearly impossible to obtain! Vinyl condition of the LP is NEAR MINT (M-) appears to be totally unplayed! The LP has special matrix numbers assigned to it: 39987 for side 1 and 39988 for side 2. These numbers do not appear on the regular pressings of the album!! LABELS: Both labels in NEAR MINT (M-) condition with no spindle marks. COVER: Laminated single cover in pristine conditon!!! Rare in this condition! No tape. No splits. No writings, no stamps, no stickers. No edge and spine wear! No ring wear! This wonderful cover must be grade as NEAR MINT (M-)!
