Description
The first live “underground” album of VdGG, Kornyfone Records #1927, featuring audience recordings of the band live in England and of an acoustic Hammill performance. This is the original issue of this album, with the paper insert, not the printed cover. This is one of the rarer TAKRL releases, since Van der Graaf didn’t sell as well as Elton John.
The record is in excellent, nearly unplayed condition. The cover is very good, with the original shrinkwrap still covering most of it The cover shows some wear at the edges.
The live VdGG tracks are “Man-Erg,” “W” and “Killer” from 1971, while Side B has a 1974 Hammill unplugged performance of “Rubycon”, “A Louse Is Not A Home” and “Red Shift”. Also included is a recording of the rare first VdGG single songs “People You Were Going To” and ”Firebrand”
The original liner notes read: “Recorded at The Reclusive Bedfellows Home in 1971/ The first three tracks of side two are Mr. Hammill going it alone in 1974/ Oh, by the way, the last 2 tracks on each side are from 1968 and are the ‘A’ and ‘B’ side of the very first Van Der Graaf single/ It’s the sooprize/ Thanks to H.Z./ Stereo”
