VARIOUS ARTISTS - Jamaican Memories (Blue Cat BCL1) - LP - 1968
Tracks: The Clarendonians - Take It Or Leave It, Roy Richards - Jamaican Memories, Leyroy Reid - The Fiddler, The Rudies - Orange Street, The Beacons - Taking Another Girl, The Soul Brothers - Sound And Music, Delroy Wilson - A Fool, Tommy McCook - Moody Ska, Ernest & Freddy - Deep Down In My Heart, The Soul Brothers - Free Soul, Dawn Penn - Why Did You Lie, Neville Irons - Soul Glide.
Well used and somewhat abused original pressing of the Various Artists LP Jamaican Memories, released on the Blue Cat label in 1968. The vinyl retains a decent sheen though there are numerous light and lightish surface marks, a few spindle marks, plenty of fine, light hairlines and light / lightish scratches plus approximately seven prominent scratches and one prominent scratchy scuff, all but one of which are on Side One. However, both sides play through without sticking or jumping - see descriptions below.
Side One: There is a moderate improving to small amount of background surface noise during Track One, thereafter a tiny / very small amount, with very small, small, smallish and moderate pops and clicks plus some more prominent ones caused by the worst of the scratches highlighted above.
Grade - Track One is the worst at Fair+/G-, Track 3 the best at VG, the remainder are around the VG- mark.
Side Two: There is heavy background surface noise during the first twenty seconds or so, thereafter there is only a tiny amount with very small, small, some smallish and occasional moderate pops and clicks plus a few more prominent ones.
Grade - Track One is the worst at Fair improving to VG-, Tracks 2 and 5 the best at VG/VG+, the remainder are around the VG-/VG mark.
Labels: Both labels are near pristine (see scan).
Sleeve: The sleeve is rough. There is a tear across the whole of the front cover, which has been repaired from the inside with sellotape, wear and bumping to the edges and corners, plenty of creases, and moderately heavy discolouration / handling marks to the unlaminated back cover.
