Description
You are bidding on a REAL, original, unused Vee-Jay Records "Singles of Significance" 45 shipping envelope used in the 60's. It measures 7-6/8" X 9-3/8"(with the flap down as shown). Item condition is VG+. Some handling wrinkles, creases & a few bug bites from sitting around for (at the time, 30 years). Still nice & presentable.
Once they moved from miserable, chilly Chicago to the sunny Santa Monica Blvd. California address, Vee-Jay Records would ship out 45s they felt the radio DJ's should pay attention to in these envelopes. And, I'm guessing, that was ALL the 45s they were pressing up at the time. Those later brackets label BEATLES & 4 SEASONS records arrived at your local radio station in an envelope just like this. Some girl wearing Go-Go boots & a mini skirt and making .75cents an hour would cut open the envelope, take out the record, put it on a big stack of 45s to be reviewed by the radio disc jockey, then throw out the envelope. Needless to say, none of these used at the time survived. About 30 years ago, I went to a storage unit in L.A. to meet the "Vee-Jay lady". SoCal/L.A. record collector/dealers know well who I'm talking about. It's been so long I don't remember her name now. A nice old lady that had some connection to Vee-Jay Records. She never told me what it was & I never asked. I was late to the party so those BEATLES 45 & Lp pressing plates (some of which later showed up at local record shows), press photos & test pressings were long gone. However, she still had some nice things left like this item. If you have a late Beatles 45 you want to dress up & probably be the only one in your town (county? state? etc.) to have one, this auction is for you. Nice addition to your box of Beatles 45s.
Media Mail shipping is $3.00. If you are out of the U.S. & are enrolled in the Global Shipping program, I can ship it to you. If you are out of the U.S. & don't have a U.S. address to ship to, then I can ONLY ship this via Express Mail, which is VERY expensive. Possibly $50, $60 or $70usd, depending on where you are & how I pack it. This is the only way I can guarantee safe delivery out of the U.S. So, if you don't want to spend a LOT of money to have this shipped to you in Europe, Japan or even Canada, & I'll bet you don't, then please don't bid on this item unless you have a Global Shipping account.
