Here we have the truely excellent and now very rare CLASSIC VELVET CRUSH 1994 Creation Records LP TEENAGE SYMPHONIES TO GOD - a perfect blend of Power Pop/Byrds jangle and Country Rock. Every track on this LP is a real classic and if you have never heard this LP - where have you been? Do your ears a favour! Produced by Mitch Easter (he of early REM fame) - does an amazing warm and retro job on this LP - it really sounds alive and the guest musicians that joined the Crush - especially the AMAZING and now very sort after/well known pedal steel player GREG LEISZ - adds magic all over this album. The sleeve is a bit worn around the edges but still nice and clean (see photos) - as for the record itself - Side A I would rate as really very good - plays really well. Side B - also plays very well - BUT the last track- there is a surface scratch mark on track 12 - which results in audiable vinyl pop at the very start of the track - HOWEVER you don't really notice it once the track kicks in and the track plays fine - there is no jumping! So overall you have a good, playable copy of a rare classic a good price! To sweeten the deal I have also thrown into the deal the rare 12" single of Hold Me Up - a great single as the 2 B sides are brilliant - an amazing version of Gram Parsons '100 Years' and Velvet Crush's own big epic 'Don't you slip away from me' - both, like the main LP, have pedal steel solos to die for! The Hold Me Up single plays very well on both sides and the cover is in good clean condition (again see photos).

Velvet Crush's second album is an old-fashioned pop record: 12 songs in 40 minutes, filled with ultra-melodic guitar hooks and simple, memorable melodies. While it's traditional in form, the music on Teenage Symphonies to God isn't retro. Velvet Crush manage to inject a real enthusiasm and freshness in the standard three-minute pop song, whether they're playing originals that sound like forgotten classics ("Time Wraps Around You," "This Life is Killing Me," "My Blank Pages," "Hold Me Up") or forgotten classics themselves (Gene Clark's "Why Not Your Baby" and Matthew Sweet's "Something's Gotta Give"). With a crisp, warm production from Mitch Easter, Teenage Symphonies to God is one record that deserves to take its title from Brian Wilson.
The LP has been safely stored and never really played much by me.
It pains me to be selling the best of my vinyl but..... I need further funds to get my own LP mastered and finished! Be sure to check my other listings for more tasty vinyl!
