You are bidding on "THE VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO " in STEREO, produced by ANDY WARHOL, recorded in 1966 in and released in March, 1967, a RARE COPY.

Note that this is a FIRST ISSUE with the upside down TORSO of actor Eric Emerson that was used without his permission resulting in the threat of a lawsuit causing Verve to airbrush out his image on subsequent albums.

This album is number thirteen on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

In 1982, musician Brian Eno famously stated that while The Velvet Underground & Nico initially only sold 30,000 copies, "everyone who bought one of those 30,000 copies started a band". (Wikipedia)

I bought this at a friend's yard sale when he and his wife were splitting up about 35 years ago. I won't tell him I'm selling this, but I doubt he remembers the album. I haven't seen him in three years.

Condition: I would grade the record VG+, as there are no scratches or scuffs, but you can hear some very light background noise. The record looks E. As you can see, there is rubbing on the jacket and the top edge of page two is separated 4 1/2". Also note that the peelable banana is still attached, but has two strips of tape on it and the paper of the stem at the top is separated for about an inch. There is a dent on the jacket in the lower right corner. Unfortunately, the original sleeve is missing. I've looked high and low for it but it must have been missing when I bought the album.

I am getting up in years and am selling my small collection, as my children and grandchildren are not interested.
