VINYL is EXCELLENT+
Super-clean High Gloss Vinyl is close to Near Mint with only a very few short, barely visible, faintest hairlines viewed under hard bright light, that are inaudible. LP plays bright, clean and full throughout. Vibrant silver/blue labels are extremely clean with a few light spindle marks visible at angle to light.

COVER is EXCELLENT+
Snapping bright and super clean inside and out. Crisp, solid Gatefold cover with no wear, scuffs, creases, indents, dings, writing or soil. Front and back cover boards are free of any age toning or spotting. Banana Sticker is still exceptionally clean and complete, with one small closed tear at stem at top. Inside Gatefold also super clean with some small, light age spots.  All edges straight, all corners sharp. Seams and flat, smooth spine 100% intact with no wear, chipping or splits.

COVER has very cool Printing/Mfg. ERROR:
Spine Titles text “V8-5008       The Velvet Underground & Nico     Produced by Andy Warhol        Verve”
falls just clear of spine fold, becoming visible completely on front along left edge.
FRONT cover panel width therefor: 12 1/2" BACK cover panel width 12 1/4" (See PHOTO # 4)
Personally, I have always loved this unique aspect of this cover. Clearly a manufacturing misalignment error in the cut and fold process ... the result is the title and band's name appearing on the front cover ... in a very low-key, unobtrusive manner. I have never seen another in my 50+ years of collecting. long-time vinyl collectors will no doubt have run into partially misaligned spine titles often enough - almost always, problematically, half showing across spine fold - on various LP's over time. The fact that this one is EXACTLY and completely just over the front edge - on this cover - makes for a very cool look - on what is otherwise a very minimalist cover with only "ANDY WARHOL" and "PEEL SLOWLY AND SEE" printed text on front.
...was it an intentional experiment (with possibly a handful of other copies existent)? or just an incredibly lucky accident? I'll never know, but I do know that I've never seen this fortuitous printing error on any other copy - and it looks awesome there.
Gatefold cover with Banana Peel sticker. Back cover with airbrushed Emerson (upside down head and arms) image behind photo of Lou’s head - therefor not considered ’torso’ version.
